Why visit London Eye
Opened for the millennium and still Europe's tallest cantilevered observation wheel, the London Eye lifts 32 glass capsules — one for each London borough — to 135 metres above the South Bank. A single slow rotation takes 30 minutes and reveals up to 40 km of skyline on a clear day, from Windsor in the west to Canary Wharf in the east.
- Originally intended as a temporary structure for the year 2000 only.
- The 32 capsules are numbered 1–33, skipping 13 for superstition.
- A full rotation is deliberately slow so it doesn't need to stop for boarding.
