Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is in France. Direct road transfers, scheduled buses and coaches are often the most practical choice from Geneva, taking approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes in normal traffic. It is not reached by a simple direct Swiss train; rail itineraries are longer and involve changes.
A long full day (10–12 hours).
- You will cross an international border between Switzerland and France; carry appropriate travel documents and check the entry requirements that apply to you.
- Mountain weather can change quickly; check current forecasts, lift operations and accessibility before travelling.
- Cable cars, mountain railways and activities can be seasonal or weather dependent.
- Reserve road transport and key mountain attractions where appropriate.
